Retrieving Pulsatility in Ultrasound Localization Microscopy

چکیده

Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) is a vascular imaging method that provides 10-fold improvement in resolution compared to ultrasound Doppler imaging. Because typical ULM acquisitions accumulate large numbers of synthetic microbubble (MB) trajectories over hundreds cardiac cycles, transient hemodynamic variations such as pulsatility get averaged out. Here we introduce two independent processing methods retrieve pulsatile flow characteristics from MB sampled at kilohertz frame rates and demonstrate their potential on simulated dataset. The first approach follows Lagrangian description the flow. We filter eliminate grid artifacts successfully recover fraction P f with root mean square error (RMSE) 3.3%. Ultrasound-modulated optical microscopy.

We demonstrate that microscopic imaging is feasible in ultrasound-modulated optical tomography (UOT) of soft biological tissues, using a high-frequency focused ultrasound transducer with a 75-MHz central frequency. Our experiments in tissue mimicking phantoms show that at an imaging depth of about 2 mm, an axial resolution better than 30 microm can be achieved, whereas the lateral resolution is...

Assessment of Ultrasound / Radio-guided Occult Lesion Localization in Non-palpable Breast Lesions

Objective(s): Controversy exists about the localization of non-palpable breast lesions. In many countries, the gold standard for the diagnosis of these lesions is needle localization due to its accuracy. This study sought to compare the ultrasoundand radio-guided occult lesion localization (ROLL) as a simple method with the conventional procedures in terms of their diagnostic power. Methods: Th...

Super-Resolution Localization Microscopy

Light microscopy techniques have been vital to our understanding of biological structures and systems since their invention in the late 16 Century. However, conventional light microscopy techniques are limited by the diffraction limit of light, preventing us from seeing anything smaller than approximately 200 nm in x and y and approximately 500 nm in z. Many molecules and structures of interest...

Fluorescence localization microscopy

Localization microscopy techniques are super-resolution fluorescence imaging methods based on the detection of individual molecules. Despite the relative simplicity of the microscope setups and the availability of commercial instruments, localization microscopy faces unique challenges. While achieving super-resolution is now routine, issues concerning data analysis and interpretation mean that ...
